Which mixing technology works best for my application?

Stirring vessels and mixing tanks differ primarily in the underlying stirring task and the viscosity of the respective medium. Basic stirring tasks include homogenizing, suspending, dispersing, emulsifying and gassing, whereby the viscosity can vary from 1–600 millipascals (aqueous) up to 100,000 mPas.

Behälter KG offers agitators for all types of applications, with the following agitators or impellers being most common:

• Propeller stirrer: well suited for simple homogenization of aqueous substances, either as a directly driven high-speed mixer (e.g. for fruit juice or spirits) or with lower speed through a geared motor for gentler mixing (e.g. milk or dairy products)
• Anchor agitator / frame stirrer: slow-speed, anchor-shaped agitator for highly viscous substances, e.g. as maturation tank or for products such as chocolate, toothpaste or polymer solutions
• Blade stirrer: slow-speed geared agitator with blade-shaped elements, for gentle homogenization of low- to medium-viscous products such as mayonnaise, coatings, shampoo or pudding
• Oblique blade stirrer: 4-blade impeller element installed at a 45° angle, suitable for homogenizing, dispersing, suspending and degassing with a comparatively high power input
• Dissolver: support plate with tooth-like surrounding elements; the dissolver generates high shear forces and is suitable for dispersion, emulsification or wet milling (e.g. printing inks, pigment pastes or plasters)
• Cup stirrer: slow-speed, cone-shaped cups particularly suitable for the gentle homogenization and degassing of aqueous to viscous substances, without shear forces (e.g. soap, oils, lotions, shampoo)
• Jetstream mixer: fast-running rotor-stator agitator for very fast homogenization without air entry and sedimentation
• Magnetic stirrer: installed in the bottom of the tank, designed for aseptic mixing applications and very small product volumes (e.g. eye drops, active ingredients, laboratory tests)

Brand-new mixing tanks – standardized product groups

Behälter KG has developed various standardized mixing tanks over the years, which we usually have available pre-produced directly from stock. These stirring tanks primarily include the following standardized product groups:

• SDE-Flexmix: mobile mixing tanks: mobile stirring tanks with a volume of 500 to 1000 liters (also heatable / coolable)
• FIT-Storemix: jacketed mixing tanks: temperature-controlled mixing tank with a volume of up to 10,000 liters
• AIT-Containermix: agitator containers: flexible stirring container with a volume of 500–1500 liters (also heatable / coolable)

We have extensive technical documentation for our standardized stirring vessels and of course also offer the necessary spare parts over the long term. If required, we can also adapt our standardized stirring vessels to your specific requirements.

Our large selection of “made in Germany” used mixing tanks and stirring vessels offers an instantly available premium production machine at a significantly reduced investment cost.

Especially with complex mixing requirements such as coaxial agitators, anchor agitators with wipers or agitators with mechanical seals, used agitator tanks are often available for a fraction of the price of a new one. All of our second-hand stirring tanks have been in operation until recently – we can gladly provide you with detailed pictures or additional information about the condition of a specific product. As our used stirring tanks come primarily from German-speaking countries, they were built almost exclusively by well-known brand manufacturers – this can be seen in the excellent material processing and welding quality.

Our used stainless steel mixing tanks come from a variety of industries – classic areas of application are food processing (e.g. chocolate, yoghurt), beverages (beer, fruit juice, mineral water), chemicals (paint, polymers) and pharmaceuticals (creams, herbal medicine). We always clearly state the previous operational purpose of our second-hand machinery so that suitability for a new application can be easily determined.
