What are the Advantages of Anchor Agitators?
Anchor agitators are very popular in the food industry (honey, sauces, glazes), but also in the chemical sector (paints & varnishes, adhesives) or biotechnology. They are often also referred to as grid agitators or frame agitators. Compared to other common agitators, they offer the following advantages:
- Wall-penetrating agitation: The anchor agitator ensures efficient mixing all the way to the walls and bottom of the vessel.
- Enhanced heat exchange: Mixing the boundary layer at the vessel wall intensifies heat exchange.
- Gentle mixing: The anchor agitator operates at low speeds, e.g. 10 revolutions per minute, providing a very gentle mixing process.
- Prevention of sedimentation: The wall-mounted design of the anchor and the rotating motion prevent sedimentation and optimize the mixing process.
The rotating anchor-shaped agitator gently moves liquids or pasty media inside the vessel. Anchor agitators are particularly suitable for applications where thick or viscous materials need to be continuously mixed over extended periods. They operate with both axial and tangential flow, allowing thorough mixing and preventing sedimentation.
