Stelzer's origins lie in the field of mixing technology for dairies, where Stelzer stirrers were and still are widely used. Today, Stelzer manufactures custom agitators for all applications in the food industry, including anchor stirrers for highly viscous media, blade stirrers for media with medium viscosity, and propeller and magnetic stirrers for low-viscosity media.

Stelzer is also strongly represented in the field of mixing technology for the chemical industry, where stirrers are manufactured from laboratory scale up to large storage tanks. This includes blade stirrers, propeller stirrers, coaxial stirrers in various designs (ATEX, GMP, FDA).

Stelzer offers stirrers with magnetic drive, which are compactly installed in the bottom of the process vessel. This is often required in the pharmaceutical industry as well as in the food industry. Stelzer also offers classic side-entry stirrers for installation in the side of the tank's cylindrical part – for example, in large milk tanks or wastewater tanks to prevent sedimentation. However, the most common application is Stelzer stirrers installed as top-entry agitator – a design well suitable for almost all applications. Propeller stirrers or slow-running geared agitators with cross-blade stirrers are often used for this purpose.
