ItalianDismantling & purchase of a complete solvent storage tank facility – 800 tons CO₂ savings through reuse
Behälter KG successfully carried out a demanding dismantling project for an internationally leading pharmaceutical company at its Austrian site. The focus was on a solvent tank storage facility with almost 50 stainless steel vessels and units – including explosion-protected mixing tanks as well as large-volume storage tanks with capacities of up to 118,000 liters. In total, around 200 tons of stainless steel and an impressive tank volume of 1.6 million liters were handled.
Precise scheduling and high safety standards
A project of this scale requires careful planning and a high level of safety. Under strict safety precautions, all vessels were dismantled from the building, loaded “just in time” and transported away with various special heavy-load permits. Thanks to close cooperation with locally based service providers and collaborative coordination with the client, every step of the work was completed smoothly and on schedule.
Reuse instead of scrapping
With our tangible sustainability concept, we were able to convince the customer – because not a single unit was scrapped. By purchasing and reselling the used storage tanks from this project, an estimated 800 tons of CO₂ emissions were saved. These savings result from the resources not used that would have been necessary to produce comparable stainless steel tanks from scratch – a process that requires a great deal of energy and valuable raw materials.
