Dissolvers consist of a stirring disc with externally mounted teeth. What Advantages Does a Dissolver Agitator Offer?
Dissolvers are widely used in the production of paints & coatings, as well as in the chemical and plastic industries. Compared to other common stirring elements, they offer the following advantages:
- High energy input: Dissolvers are capable of generating very high local shear forces.
- Breakdown of agglomerates: The high shear forces can break up agglomerates - for example, in the field of paints & coatings.
- Suitable for medium to high-viscosity media: Dissolvers provide excellent performance when processing highly viscous media and allow for effective dispersion of solids.
- Direct drive (no gear motor): Dissolvers are operated as high-speed machines without gear motors, providing cost advantages in the procurement of components.
- Easy maintenance: Dissolver agitators are easy to maintain and clean due to their robust construction, which is essential in many industries.
A disadvantage of the dissolver agitator is that it can only be operated at relatively high fill levels and is not suitable for continuous operation.
