Behälter KG offers a comprehensive selection of high-quality used stainless steel tanks from the former manufacturer Ritter GmbH based in Hildesheim. Ritter was particularly well known in the dairy sector for its large insulated milk tanks and also manufactured agitated vessels for the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. After the company was liquidated in 2013, the manufacturing expertise at the site was continued first by HBB Hildesheimer Behälterbau and later by Jorns Behälterbau. Where are Ritter stainless steel tanks used and what distinguishes them?
Ritter Behälterbau from Hildesheim was, for decades, an established manufacturer of stainless steel vessels, pressure vessels, and reactors for the process engineering industry. The tanks and apparatus manufactured by the company can still be found today in numerous chemical, pharmaceutical, , and related process industry facilities. Typical applications include storage, batching, and mixing processes as well as pressure- or temperature-controlled production steps.
Many Ritter vessels are characterized by their robust, industrial-grade design with a strong focus on pressure resistance and long service life. On the used equipment market, vertical stainless steel tanks, pressure vessels, and reactors with dished heads, manways, and process-specific nozzle configurations are commonly available. Depending on the design, the vessels may be equipped with heating or cooling jackets, insulation, and approvals for overpressure and vacuum operation, qualifying them for a wide range of process engineering applications.
Many of the Ritter vessels available today originate from demanding industrial applications and were therefore conservatively designed. For continued operation, the existing documentation – such as data sheets, pressure test records, or material certificates – is particularly important in order to reliably assess operating limits, modification potential, and integration effort.

Jorns Behälterbau GmbH – continuation of the Hildesheim site after Ritter / HBB
Following the insolvency of Ritter Behälterbau’s successor company, Hildesheimer Behälterbau, in 2024, the production site in Hildesheim is now being continued by . Documentation for vessels and tanks manufactured by Ritter or HBB can therefore be requested from Jorns as the new operator of the facility.
